NAS Students Gardening Pictures

Deb Foye, the NAS schools cook has been spending time with each class at the elementary school teaching students how to grow their own healthy garden fresh veggies from seed. Students learn everything from how deep in the spoil to plant the seed, how much water the need, and how to transplant them. It will take all summer for most of the vegetables to be ready for harvest. Students are encouraged to visit the garden during the summer to see how their plants are doing.

The Young Women’s Leadership Conference

The Oshkiniigikwe Leadership Conference took place Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Grand Casino Hinckley. Oshkiniigikwe means “young lady” and the event was planned and designed entirely by young women with the goal of inspiring and supporting fellow Oshkiniigikwe as they discover and develop superpowers that will help them on their journey of servant leadership.

Nearly 160 young women attended the one-day conference that was packed with events and breakout sessions for a full day of superpower training. Breakout sessions inspired participants to write their own music, create their own video games, and sew a ribbon skirt. There were also virtual and augmented reality experiences available. In total, 14 speakers and work- shop leaders provided content to educate and inspire the girls in attendance.
