Hayden Short's journey reflects dedication, community pride, and a bright future in leadership.

By Lana Oswoldson, Band Memeber Recruitment Manager

Meet Hayden Short, Mille Lacs Band Member and our new Players Development Coordinator!

Though he just recently stepped into this role, Hayden started his Grand Casino journey at just 16 years old with the Junior Ambassador Program working in housekeeping before the hotel remodel. Looking back, he says the hotel upgrades are "beautiful for our guests and represent us well."

Advice for New Team Members

"It's your work," Hayden shares. "So, keep working to perfect it."

Beyond Work

When it comes to travel dreams, Hayden would choose New Zealand. A fan of The Lord of the Rings, he loved the movie but feels the book offered even more depth, especially with the character Tom Bombadil, who never made it to the big screen. "I would have loved seeing his character in the movie," Hayden says. Inspired by the film, he hopes to one day visit New Zealand's breathtaking mountains and oceans in person.

A Fun Note

Music also plays an important role in Hayden's life. His favorite song to brighten any day is "Fishing in the Dark," by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, a tune he enjoys most with his girlfriend. "It's a classic," he says. "They just don't make country songs like that anymore."

On the Rise

Hayden's journey from Junior Ambassador to Players Development Coordinator is an inspiring example of growth, dedication, and love for both community and culture. A rising future leader of tomorrow, continue to shine Hayden and make us proud. Our ancestors are with you.
