MILLE LACS BAND OF OJIBWE FOUNDATION SUPPORTS COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS
Advisory Committee guides charitable giving to organizations advancing education, culture, language, and community services.
The Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe continues its tradition of supporting communities through charitable giving through the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe Foundation. The Foundation recently awarded donations to several organizations supporting education, culture, language preservation, and community services across the region.
The Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe Foundation Advisory Committee, which guides the Foundation's charitable giving, was formed in collaboration with the Saint Paul Minnesota Foundation as part of the establishment of the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe Foundation in 2011. The Committee, comprised of the Mille Lacs Band elected officials serving as its members, provides strategic guidance to ensure that the Band's philanthropic initiatives align with its cultural values, priorities, and vision to create a meaningful and lasting impact.
Each year, the Committee evaluates funding priorities and identifies opportunities to support organizations that address important needs within the community and beyond. Through the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe Foundation, these partnerships help strengthen communities while supporting organizations doing important work across the region.
This year, the Foundation awarded donations to several organizations in recognition of their contributions.
• Minisinaakwaang Leadership Academy, the District Il charter school, received a donation for its role in providing educational opportunities for students and supporting the surrounding community.
• Bear Paws Cultural Arts received a donation for its work preserving and strengthening Ojibwe cultural arts.
• Gidiinwewiniinaan Foundation received a donation for its commitment to preserving and advancing the Ojibwe language.
• Ruby's Pantry received a donation for supporting individuals and families through access to affordable food and essential resources.
• The McGregor Area First Responders also received a donation in honor of the late District II Representative Marvin Bruneau, recognizing his years of service and lasting impact on the community.
Through the work of the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe Foundation and its Advisory Committee, the Band continues to support organizations whose efforts strengthen communities and reflect the values of service, culture, and care for others.
